Once again, Phillies' starter Joe Blanton had another great outing, giving up only one earned run and five hits to the Dodgers on Saturday afternoon. With a 2-1 lead going into the bottom of the ninth inning, Brad Lidge entered with an opportunity to redeem himself from the previous night's performance. Unfortunately, he gave up a game tying solo home run to pinch hitter Rafael Furcal. This eventually led to Andre Ethier's second walk off hit in as many days sailing a grooving fastball right down the middle over the centerfield wall off Phillies' reliever Chad Durbin.
Brad Lidge who continues to struggle has to make adjustments and figure out what he has forgotten from his success last year. Though he is struggling, don't count on him not coming back. Phillies manager Charlie Manuel stated that Brad Lidge is his closer, and he will leave him in that role.
But you have to admit, there is something wrong with Lidge. Its been reported on any number of media spots that his velocity is down. He isn't all that "lights out" anymore.
